Snow Day

We had a little snow a couple weekends ago. Now, when I say little I mean little. Like a few inches that was gone in a few days being that the weather has been unseasonable warm...no complaints on that! The only remains of our first and maybe last snow fall of the season can be found in the mall parking lots. Those huge dirty piles are always the last to go.
The boys had a blast outside and Cole had his real first taste of snow. These kids are so cute and I love just watching them play together. I couldn't stop laughing at Cole struggling so hard to move around in his snow suite. all I could think about was that poor kid from A Christmas Story!

Stats

The boys had a doctors appointment this past Thursday. I'm not really sure what was going through my head when I scheduled both of them to have their checkups at the same time. I'm sure my initial intention was one trip, one appointment, and boom...done. Little did I think about how things were probably going to turn out...2 sets of shots, 2 crying kids, 2 kids in my arms wanting mamma to make it all better. Well surprisingly we made it through without a hitch. No tears, no tantrums, and not 1 but 2 happy healthy kiddos. We have much to  smile about.
Braeden is now weighing in at 46 lbs and is 3 ft 6 inches tall! He passed both his hearing and vision test with a perfect score. Oh, and he got 5 shots and did so awesome. He was so brave in front of his little brother showing him there was nothing to be afraid of.  He is growing right on track and is such a smart funny 4 year old. I have his parent teacher conference this week and we are going to try and figure out what we want to do as far as putting him in school next year. Most likely he will go into to the Pre-K 5 day a week class.
Cole weighs 20.7 lbs and is 28 inches long. I had to peak at Braeden's baby book just to see how they compared. It made me laugh to see that at 9 months Cole is smaller than what Braeden was at 6 months. No worries though, he he growing right on track and is perfectly healthy. He made it through the appointment without having to get any shots this time around.
Our next appointment is scheduled for 2 days after Cole turns 1! We are so glad these boys are growing up happy and healthy!

Babyproof

It's officially that time again...That time when that once sweet little baby who was just being rocked in my arms and quietly sitting in his swing has started crawling around on all four's, pulling himself up on the furniture, sticking everything in his mouth, bee lining it for the steps, trying to stick those tiny fingers in the sockets, opening up drawers and cabinets, and giving little side grins that mean I am up to no good and I know it! It's the time when we as parents are encouraging him to take his next step, clapping our hands, and cheering him on with pride. It's also that time when we know we need to baton down the hatches! And so we put up the gates, plug up the outlets, make sure all the cabinets and drawers are locked, clear off the coffee table, put all of the cleaners and medications high up out of reach, and secure all wires and TVs because no, we can't just stick him in a helmet and a plastic bubble(which would be way easier) for the next few months.
We know regardless of all our baby proofing there are going to be bumps along the road and whether we're ready or not there's no stopping this one from exploring this new world around him. All we can do is try and breathe easy again knowing we are doing all we can to keep this guy safe.

9 months

Dear Cole,
You are 9 months old today. It also happens to be your great grandmother's 84th birthday. Time goes so quickly when you have children. You will learn that on your own one day. For now we live in the present and enjoy what each day brings. To say that you make us the happiest most thankful parents in the world is an understatement. You really are one amazing little baby. Not only do we love you, you love us back...especially your brother. You adore each other. I love just watching you play together. He loves to make you laugh and you love to chase him around. You boys are best friends and I hope it always stays that way. You have the best smile and the cutest little giggles. Whenever anyone asks me about you I always let them know you are the sweetest little guy with a go with the flow attitude. Except when your hungry and that fiery temper comes out...it's more like feed me now! You have 2 bottom teeth and have 4 more coming in up top. Surprisingly you are still as content as ever. You are on the move and making me nervous and so proud. You've been crawling for a while now and can pull yourself up on the furniture and walk around while holding on to something. Your newest trick is climbing up the stairs and I always find you hiding under your high chair. You love being in the fresh air and without fail a long walk outside turns into a nice long nap. I know you are going to love adventure. You love playing in the bathtub and hate when it's time to get out and get dressed. We go to the doctor on Thursday so I'll have the official stats as far as height, weight, etc...You will also be getting some shots. I know you'll be tough and show your brother he has nothing to be afraid of.
When I was pregnant with you I always wondered what our life would be as a family of 4. Looking back, nothing I ever imagined even comes close to how truly beautiful life really is since you've arrived  Happy 9 months little one, you are our sunshine.

Just in case

Things might not be going your way. Or perhaps the sky is grey. Here's a little smile to brighten your day.

Sometimes...

The sky looks so pretty you just have to take a picture of it. I guess waking up at the crack of dawn does have some benefits.

Resolutions

With any new year comes a list of hopes, dreams, and to do's. Sometime's the items on these lists get checked off sometimes they don't. We are on day 3 of 2012 and I've done a lot of thinking about what my resolution/s will be this year. A list about a mile long came to me. Lose weight, eat better, save more, etc...After thinking about how I was going to cram that list, 2 kids, a husband, full time job, and the rest of life into 24 hours a day I finally came to a conclusion. These weren't the things I needed to change to make me more happy or life better. What I really need to do and what I finally decided to resolve was...time. Take more of it. Take it slow. Take advantage of it. Don't stress over it. Use more of it to learn. Spend more of it with my family. Spend more relaxing. Spend more of it playing. Spend less of it worrying. Spend more of it living. Spend more of it loving. Take more of the my time to do the things I want to do and enjoy every minute of it... That means ALL 527040 minutes of it and that's including an extra 1440 since it's a leap year.
