Mellow Yellow

This time around we decided to wait until birth to find out if little baby Smith is a he or a she. It seems like July is forever away and the thought of finding out in February is very tempting. As much as I would like to prepare for all things pink or all things blue the idea of not knowing is really intriguing to me. I truly think we can hold out as I only have to get through 1 ultra sound without peeking. I just need to keep imagining that magical moment in the delivery room when I will be introduced to my son or daughter. That joy and the fact that I am 99.9% sure that I picked out the most perfect gender neutral nursery color have only solidified my decision to wait.
After spending some time talking with Brian about what color he would like to go with we decided that yellow would be it. I took some time to look around the internet today and came across the most lovely shade. It's called Lemon Sorbet by Benjamin Moore. It's been names their 2013 Color of the Year and I am beyond excited to go check it out at the paint store. I am really hoping these online samples match it in real life and am able to get started on his or her room very soon!

Family Tradition

This is the 4th year that we have attended Brian's company kid's holiday party. It is so much fun and there is so much to do with the kids. They have face painting, cookie decorating, crafts, music, balloon animals, and of course Santa! Everything was a huge success minus the Santa part. Cole wanted nothing to do with the jolly old man and didn't make it more than 2 seconds sitting on his lap. I guess I should consider a picture with at least one of them and him a win...

Change of Heart

I mentioned earlier this week that I've been anti Christmas this year. Little by little we've been decorating, baking, caroling, and slowly but surely adding some sparkle to our home. Besides the beauty that comes with this time of year, there is nothing more I love than experiencing it with our sweet little boys. The twinkle in their eyes, the excitement in their voices, and the happiness they get from the magic of this season. I'm beginning to think the closer we get to Christmas there could be a definite change around here, and just like that Grinch, my heart too will grow 3 sizes in one day!

1st Appointment

I had my first official OB appointment today. It went so much better than I could have possibly imagined. The doctor was someone who I had never met and she was so awesome. She thoroughly went through everything with me and answered all my questions. I didn't feel uncomfortable or rushed at all. It was a typical check up and all seemed well with my blood pressure, weight, etc...The highlight of the whole appointment was hearing baby's beautiful heartbeat. I couldn't believe it and may have even cried a little. When I was pregnant with Cole I didn't hear the heartbeat this early. I was genuinely surprised and in awe of the beautiful sound and couldn't believe she found it so quickly. That plus the reassurance that everything was going as it should be really put my mind at ease after all the stress of spotting for the past 2 weeks. Here's hoping that mom and baby stay healthy and happy for the next 30 weeks. Since I never put this on here when I had my ultrasound, here is a pic of #3 @ 8 weeks old! Isn't he/she so cute?!

Bah Humbug

Seriously call me The Grinch. I've been really trying hard to get into the Christmas spirit this year but haven't had much luck! Working full time, growing this baby, feeling sick all day/night, and taking care of the boys has left me drained physically and mentally. Brian has been so helpful and I really am so fortunate to have such a wonderful husband. He put up all the lights outside, set up the tree and put most of the decorations on it, and went out shopping and bought the kids their presents. I am really hoping some of my energy and excitement comes back soon because this USUALLY is my favorite time of the year! Till then...bah humbug!

It's a Wrap

Being this is our 3rd baby there really isn't much we need or want. Unless this baby is a girl, then there will be plenty of dresses, bows, and shoes to be bought! There are a few things on my list and these swaddle blankets are at the top! I've never used them before but have heard nothing but good things. Not to mention they just look so soft and cozy. I figure with having a summer baby, these wraps will make for the perfect cover whether in the hot outdoors or in the cold air conditioning. The only hard part is trying to figure out which pattern to choose for my little burrito!
