Just in time for turkey day

So long gummy smile hello pearly whites! Cole has his first tooth. I found it poking through this morning when I was feeling around to see if anything was going on. Braeden was a late bloomer when it came to teeth so I was really surprised to find one actually in there. I guess the little man knew that a delicious Thanksgiving feast was only a few days away and he was hoping to participate in all the food goodness. Next year for sure kiddo!
Oh, and in case you were wondering The Smith's are officially homeowners! It's been a crazy busy week around here but we couldn't be more happy . More to come about all that is home sweet home!!

Doing something right

The other day I dropped Braeden off at school. As I walked him in I was stopped by his teacher. She proceeded to tell me what a sweet child he is. She went to say how great he is in class, how much he loves to help, and that he is such a delight to have around. I wish I could have seen my own face as she spoke. I'm sure the initial expression was priceless. A look that said, "huh, are you sure you are talking about my kid, my Braeden?" (Knowing perfectly well there is no other by the same name in his class). I was caught off guard for sure and as quick as that shocked look came across a different one took its place. A look of promise, a look of pride, and a huge smile. I thanked her a hundred times for the kind words and told her how happy I was to hear he was doing so well.
I walked out of there analyzing what had just happened.  Going over in my mind the words that she spoke about our little guy...then it hit me...holy cow, we as parents are doing good...we are doing something right! I already knew how great he is. I already knew that he loves to give hugs and help us around the house. I already knew that his smile can brighten any cloudy day. I already knew that he is the sweetest boy and my heart melts every time he tells me I am beautiful or that his dad is the coolest.
Why was I so surprised by the words his teacher spoke when in reality I actually already knew? For me it was the fact of someone else seeing, feeling, and experiencing what I do everyday. Someone not wearing those rose colored glasses or that has any bias towards our amazing little man. A confirmation that we are doing good and our children ARE turning out just as we hoped...even if it's something we already know.

Right now

Life is busy. We are a mere 6 days away from settlement and our new home. The house is filled with boxes of our belongings ready to make the move. I of course am going crazy with everything being so crowded and disorganized. Each room is worse than the next. Since the day our offer had been accepted the walls have been caving in on our little 2 bedroom apartment. As much as we loved it here we are ready to move on. Though, as it goes there's so much to do and so little time.

A typical morning

If you ever wondered what our house is like at 6am in the morning this picture says it all. Cole wakes up at around 5:30am ready to eat. We bring him in our bed, give him a bottle, and as soon as he's done he returns to la la land. Braeden manages to wake up, sneak his way in, while at the same time kicking me out. Dad somehow manages to sleep through it all. I couldn't resist snapping this picture of my 3 boys, my loves, my world.

Happy Halloween

Hope everyone had a fun night! The boys had a blast and couldn't have looked more adorable all dress up in their costumes.  We had a sweet little pumpkin and a rough and tough Optimus Prime. Braeden was a trick or treat pro and was hitting up house after house like it was his job. He came home with a nice pail full of goodies to share. The chilly night was beautiful and it was so much fun walking through the neighborhood checking out all the decorations and other people. Overall it was a spooktecular Halloween!
